Baby Tobin's 1st Race

I ran the 5k Color Run in St. Louis on August 18th.  I was 8 weeks pregnant at the time.  It was a ton of fun.  Everyone had white shirts on and you ran through stations where they "splashed" color on you.  It was more of a chalk dust, which wasn't that pleasant.  Fun times!

All done and colored!

13 weeks

Week 13 – September 17th – 23rd
How I’m feeling – Good.  Pants are getting a bit tight, but still fitting into shorts.  We told the volleyball girls tonight and they were excited, plus also guessed it!  My little pooch is starting to peek through my shirts but it’s still barely noticeable.  My belly is hard (duh) and it’s weird not being able to suck in!  I’m doing cocoa butter and hopefully keep stretch marks at bay (haven’t seen any yet that I know of).  Running clothes are still fitting well and running still feels normal.  I can talk during my runs and don’t feel like my heart rate is in danger.

What I’m eating/not eating – Pretty much the same thing as before.  My diet honestly hasn’t changed that much.  I’m still limiting my caffeine.  We had a doctor’s appointment on Friday morning, which was technically the beginning of my 14th week, and the doc made sure I knew to get 2 fruits a day and veggies.   Check, check.  And we asked about fish…perfectly fine.  2 servings a week is recommended to keep mercury levels low.  I’m still cooking and baking all my favorites and new things.  Nothing sounds gross or great.  Just normal.  Forget I’m pregnant sometimes!

**Doctor’s appointment on Friday – we waited for about an hour and half and then met the doctor and realized why it took so long.  He’s quite the talker!  All relative stuff, but just likes to shoot the breeze.  Very nice and I secretly hope he delivers the little one.  Great bedside manner.  We had a Doppler done which is just a hand held device that finds the heart beat.  He made me feel down my abdomen to the uterus and then Nathan.  The heartbeat was so cool.  He measured it around 150-160 bpm.  He also explained why baby’s heartbeats are so much faster than ours.  We share blood and when my blood reaches baby, it’s depleted since I’ve taken a lot of it so it has to pump faster to get all it needs quickly.  Pretty self sufficient!  The little one sounds strong and healthy!
My weight that morning was 151 lbs.  On Thursday morning it was 150.6 lbs.  So total weight gain of around 5 lbs so far.

Activity –
Monday – 3.5 miles-32 min
Tuesday – Elliptical – 25 min, weights – 20 min
Wednesday – 4 -4.5miles – 42 min
Thursday – Kettlebell DVD – 52 min
Friday – 8 mile run – 8.20 miles in 1 hour 15 min – 9:15/mile pace
Saturday – Rest – I had a volleyball tournament and that took enough out of me
Sunday – Rest – short 25 min walk

Weight gained:  5 lbs total

12 week photo!

So it turns out, every Sunday we take our weekly picture and that is actually the beginning of the next week.  But we've been consistent, so we're sticking with the timing of the posts.

12 Weeks

Week 12 – September 10th – 16th
How I’m feeling – I’m still fairly tired and will now officially say, “I look pregnant.”  It’s just a little bump but I can’t suck it in anymore and it’s definitely showing in some clothes.  I got a bunch of clothes from people I work with and I’m grateful for the generosity.  Again, still feeling great.  Noticing more of a belly when I wear tank tops but otherwise, still fitting into everything!

What I’m eating/not eating – I’m eating about 3-4 hours and when I’m bored, I’m eating.  I feel like my diet is staying pretty normal.  I’m craving salads, chicken, cottage cheese, and hummus.  And of course, sweets after dinner!

Activity –
Monday – 3.5 miles-32 min
Tuesday – 25 min elliptical, free weights – 20 min
Wednesday – 4-4.5 mile run -42 min
Thursday – 25 min elliptical, free weights – 20 min
Friday – 5 miles – 47 min treadmill
Saturday – Rest
Sunday – Cardinals Care 6k Race – 32:28. 8:43/mile

Weight gained:  5lbs total

11 Weeks

Week 11 – September 2nd- 9th
How I’m feeling – I’m tired early at night (9:30 ish) and then wide awake at 5, even if I can sleep in!  I really feel pretty great overall.  For the first time this week, I can’t tell I’m pregnant.  I pretty much feel the same.  For those of you that have had morning sickness, nausea, vomiting for months, I’m sure you hate me right now.  Believe me, I’m thanking my lucky stars.  Dare I say, though, I do feel a bit pudgy, though I’m fitting into everything just fine.  I’m sure I’ll wake up one day in a few weeks and feel the bulge.

What I’m eating/not eating – Water!  And been very good at limiting my caffeine amount.  I’m not as tired in the afternoon as I once was last year, probably because I don’t have to be at work until 8:45 or so, which is nice.  I have a craving for candy like licorice and sweet or sour candy.  I’m limiting what I eat but a few licorice never hurt anyone =)

Activity –
Monday – 4 miles-39 min
Tuesday – 25 min elliptical, free weights – 20 min
Wednesday – 4-4.5 mile run -42 min
Thursday – Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred – Level 3 – 30 min
Friday – Rest
Saturday – 10 miles – 8:40/mile pace.  1 hour 26 min
Sunday – Rest

Weight gained: Again, not sure.  I’m around 149-150 on the scale and I usually weigh 145lb.

Maternity items bought: Got a book in that my chiropractor recommended: Well Adjusted Babies.  The book looks really good: talking about if vaccines are healthy, how to eat, getting adjusted.  Look forward to reading it.  I also got some super cute skinny jeans at Old Navy!

10 Weeks

Week 10
How I’m feeling – I was really tired the front part of the week but I’m feeling pretty good near the end of the week.  I’m exhausted and falling asleep by 9 but wide awake by 4.  You’d think my body could just switch it to 10-5 or 11-6?  No nausea, vomiting, or pain.  I sometimes roll over and have a massive pain in my abdomen, but it lasts temporarily.

What I’m eating/not eating – Lots of water.  I’m doing a good job of getting and keeping my protein up and lots of water.  I feel that my meals are well balanced.  I’m eating huge breakfasts…the other day was an egg, two pieces of toast, V8 drink, and yogurt.  And I’m starving by 11!  Caffeine is my achillles heal!  I love it and need it but I’m trying to do it every other day or only when it’s absolutely necessary.

Activity –
Monday – 3 miles
Tuesday – 25 min elliptical, free weights – 20 min
Wednesday – 4-4.5 mile run
Thursday – Rest (exhausted and volleyball every night until 9 doesn’t help!)
Friday – 8 miles – 1 hour 18 min.  Got up extra early before work to get this done to miss all the rain from Hurricane Isaac.  So glad I did this!
Saturday – Rest
Sunday – Run 20 min, lift 10 min

Weight gained: I weighed myself Saturday morning before going to the bathroom and drinking anything.  I was 149 lbs.  I’m normally 145.

Maternity items bought: none this week!

Week 9
How I’m feeling – I was told 3 different times mid-week that I looked “tired/exhausted/like a needed a nap”.  The thing is that I’m getting good sleep and am getting a good jump on the morning.  Maybe I need more makeup.  Clothes are a little tighter but everything still fits and I’m really hoping I can just wear my sweats for a while or forever (I picked the right profession!).  I love, love, love coffee but am trying to not do as much caffeine.  My doctor said it’s fine but I still know I need to kick the habit.  I’ve been doing tea but that’s really just a replacement.

What I’m eating/not eating – If I get something in my head, I have to eat it.  Luckily, it’s still very healthy things.  This morning, I had a protein shake with a gluten free waffle with almond butter and natural honey.  Lunch – veggie pizza, salad, and meat and cheese wrap.  Dinner – taco salad, cream cheese and strawberry jelly toast for dessert.  Lots of water and some caffeine in my diet.
8/23/12 – We had our second visit today and got another ultra sound.  Baby was kicking and squirming around.  Heart rate was 180 (or so we think, we don’t remember!).  Everything looks good and I am 9 weeks 4 days!  It was amazing to actually see it move around and be a real person!  I about cried watching it.  Asked the doctor about my all of a sudden allergies, which she said will go away in 9 months…great!  But luckily can take Claritin, which I may or may not.  Trying to not use too many drugs.

Activity –
Monday – 3 miles
Tuesday – 25 min elliptical, free weights – 20 min
Wednesday – 4-4.5 mile run
Thursday – elliptical 20 min, weights 25 min
Friday – swim 30 min
Saturday – 6 mile run in 57 min
Sunday – Rest

Weight gained: 2-5 lbs (total)

Maternity items bought: 2 tops from Old Navy (on sale) and swim top

People who know:  Work and trying to not forget anyone!  It’s so hard!
