St. Louis Halloween 10k Race

I ran the Halloween 10k last year, didn't really dress up and got a time of 55.33 coming off of a back injury about 4 weeks prior to that.  I was pleased with that.  This year, I dressed up in full costume as Wonder Woman and got a decent time with being 16 weeks pregnant =)

My race morning outfit!

Race decor

Batgirl and Wonder Woman!  Jaidra made my tutu and my friend Robin helped make the rest

Mom and I before the race

Treasure Trolls!  Their baby was dressed up too like a troll.

We thought this looked like my dad.  So we creeped on him and took a picture =)

18 Weeks!

Week 18 – Oct 22nd – 28th
How I’m feeling – I spent the first two days of the week recovering from the Rock and Roll Half Marathon on Sunday.  My legs felt pretty tight on Monday, but I was still able to play some volleyball with our team.  I ran for 40 min on Wednesday which was probably too early and the near record high temps didn’t help, but I made it with a few walk breaks.  I need to remember, I’m hauling around an extra 10 lbs right now so besides there being a baby, I’m going to be slower b/c of the weight.  My pooch is officially starting to show.  I catch myself trying to suck to no avail and catching glimpses of myself in mirrors or the trophy case as I walk by and actually see my belly.  I forget sometimes because my clothes (well most) still fit.

What I’m eating/not eating – Pretty much the same and I’m feeling pretty good.  I’m not depriving myself and I’m not eating like a pig.  A good moderation and when I’m hungry, I eat!

Activity –
Monday – Rest
Tuesday – Rest
Wednesday – 4 miles; 45 min (a bit slow but had several walk breaks)
Thursday – Eliptical 22 min; weights/machines – 20 min
Friday –Rest
Saturday – 40 min run; 4.5 miles.  Felt really good and felt fast!
Sunday – Raked leaves….again

Weight gained: No clue
Maternity/Baby items bought: Nothing!

**We officially find out this week what we’re having!

17 Weeks

Week 17 – Oct 16th – 21st
How I’m feeling – I’m still extremely tired and this week completely wore me out with volleyball 3 nights and a tournament Saturday.  We went to the Cards game on Wednesday and waited out the rain delay and then had friends over Friday, our first night home the whole week.  Mom, Nancy, Ryan and Linc came for the weekend for the Rock and Roll Half Marathon also.  I love having family in and I’m finally okay with our house just being as is.  My office/workout room became the dumping ground for everything: laundry, clean and unclean, school bags, Target purchases, magazines, mail, etc.  But it’s a great feeling to have people in your house.  I’m really trying to listen to whatever my body is saying.  If it’s time to sleep, sleep.  It’s not hard for me to workout or have motivation, but my stomach is starting to show a bit more.  I’ll be happy when it’s “obvious” because right now, I just feel overweight at the gym.  Like I want to shout, “Hey, I’m pregnant.  That’s why I look this way.”  Oh well, my bump is getting larger and firmer.  And a hair tie is becoming my best friend for certain pants =)

What I’m eating/not eating – We ate well this week and we ate out a lot!  Friends  brought artichoke dip and 7 layer fiesta dip, pumpkin bread, pasta salad and we grilled hamburgers and brats.  With family here, we did pizza, Chipolte, and Red Robin.  My waistline is expanding, regardless of baby.  I only had one night when I didn’t feel great and I popped tums like it was my job.  I got over it and am better now.

**Doctor update – We had our 17/18 week appointment on Thursday.  We were told by our doctor last time that we would find out the sex, so naturally everyone waited in anticipation.  And then we get there, and they’re like, “oh, no, that’s in 4 weeks.”  Um, excuse me?!  I was so upset b/c we had built it up and told everyone that I felt like a fool.  Amidst many people telling us it may have been too early anyways, that does not excuse being run around by different doctors.  They need to get on the same page.  So we got in 2 weeks from then so the magic number is now Nov 2nd.

Activity –
Monday – 3 miles; 26.26 min
Tuesday – 20 min elliptical, weights – 10 min
Wednesday – 3 miles; 26 min
Thursday – Rest
Friday – Ran 2.10 miles; 24 min
Saturday – Rest
Sunday – St. Louis Rock and Roll Half Marathon - #10 for me!  Official time was 2 hours 3 min (pictures and details soon!)

Weight gained: Weighed myself Wednesday at 155 lbs.
Maternity/Baby items bought: Surprisingly nothing this week!

16 Weeks

Week 16 – Oct 8th – 15th
How I’m feeling – I’m hungry all the time and when I need something, I eat it!  No more waiting until the next meal.  I’m still very tired and waking up several times a week.  I’m also very itchy.  My legs, back, stomach…all the time.  May be due to the weather changing and my skin is dry or I read it’s a side effect from the pregnancy.  My pants are getting tighter and honestly that is very difficult for me.  I know my body is changing for a good cause and because God is blessing us with a child, but it’s difficult to see your body changing when you work so hard to keep it conditioned.

What I’m eating/not eating – I’m hungrier than normal and eating more consequently.  We made sweet potato chili in the Crockpot with corn bread, homemade pizza with chicken and vegetables, and pizza and pasta in the Crockpot.  I’m snacking on string cheese, Honeycrisp apples, chips, and lots of water.

The race went really well.  Jaidra and I had on our super hero costumes complete with tutus and we rocked it!  Pictures to come soon!

Baby Tobin's 2nd Race

On Sunday, September 16th, my family came down to run the 3rd Annual Cardinals Care 6k starting and finishing at Busch Stadium.  Last year, I injured my back the day before the race and Mom ran it for me like a champ.  This year, I would finally run it...and pregnant!

It was a great day for the run and I felt great at 13 weeks pregnant!  Ryan and I ran the 6k and Mom, Linc and Nancy did the 1 mile fun run.

My finishing time was 32.28.  I placed 14th in my age group and 161st out of 986 runners.

15 Weeks!

Week 15 – Oct 1st – 7th
How I’m feeling – I’ve had some sharp pains in my abdomen recently that come and go.  Other pregnant women I worked with said it was my ligaments stretching…oh wonderful!  I officially have a little pooch, but in pictures, I just look fat or like I ate too much.  Still can’t park in the “Expecting Mother” parking spot.  I’ve been extremely exhausted recently.  We’ve had whole weeks full of volleyball games and not getting home until 9 or 10 pm and it’s taken its toll on me.  Dinner…eh, whatever you can scrounge up because I’m not cooking.  I desperately want to wash all the baby clothes I have and get the nursery started, but without knowing what the baby is, I don’t want to get ahead of myself.  My house is a mess, laundry everywhere, but we’re healthy and God is good!

We had our 10 year reunion Saturday, October 6th in Springfield.  It was so fun seeing a lot of people again.  Told many stories and laughed at stuff like it happened yesterday.  I want to make an effort to stay in better touch with a few.  They meant a lot to me and my family and I want to make that effort.  Sometimes, it’s like nothing has changed.  And it’s so cool to see everyone with their spouse/boyfriends/girlfriends and hear about kids.  Yes, we’re at the age.  But looking through scrapbooks, yearbooks, and telling stories brought every awesome memory back.  What a fun night.  Pics soon!

What I’m eating/not eating – I wake up starving!  So my breakfasts have been huge, but I guess that’s good and normal.  I’ve been doing egg sandwiches, fruit, yogurt or almond butter toast.  Today is lazy so cereal and Greek yogurt it is.  Really my diet is pretty much the same.  I had about a half a cup of red wine at my friend’s house for the reunion and I was even nervous about that, even though it’s ok every once in a while.  Don’t want to push it!

Activity –
Monday – 3.5 miles – 35 min
Tuesday – Ran 26 min, lifted weights 20 min
Wednesday – 43 min – 4 miles
Thursday – Ran 22 min, lifted weights 15 min
Friday – Rest
Saturday – 8 miles – 1 hr 14 min – in Pawnee 33 degrees!
Sunday –4 miles 40 min

**2 more weeks until the Rock and Roll Half Marathon!  Can’t wait to see what this baby can do!  My 10K Halloween Race is next Sunday and I’m going as Wonder Woman!  I will surely share pictures!
