Week 26

Week 26 – Dec 17th – 23rd
Baby is the size of – Just under 2 pounds and about the size of a zucchini.  End of the 2nd semester!
How I’m feeling - This week has been project week around the house.  I cleared out and organized our mud room, which looks amazing, and made some Christmas gifts for family, wrapped all our gifts, and condensed my craft things that can go out to the garage.  I’m also reading about 3 different books before he comes along.  They have all been recommended to me and am enjoying learning about breastfeeding, sleeping through the night, and whether or not to get an epidural.  Verdict still out on that one.

Little man has been punching me again as always.  It seems to be his normal ritual as I’m going to bed and lying around.  I rarely feel him when I run so he must like the rhythm.  I have had some sharp pains on the side of my abs/stomach when I’m exercising.  It is usually during a run or on the elliptical.  It almost feels like when you’re in grade school and run the mile and your side hurts.  It doesn’t feel severe or threatening to him, but I am going to ask the doctor about it next week.  I only had one meltdown this week.  I tried to call Nathan and couldn’t get a hold of him, which is not odd, but it freaked me out, as if something had happened to him.  I had visions of being a single parent and when he called back, he had been in a meeting with his boss and had to leave because I had called him about 7 times in 5 min.  Yikes, but Nathan understood and I’ve been good ever since.

I’ve had a few more leg cramps this week, but mostly because I’ve been up around 3 am for two straight nights.  I am up to go pee, than am wide awake, so head to the couch to watch TV and hopefully, knock me out and I’ve had the worst of the leg cramps when I’m on the couch.  It feels like a huge Charlie horse, but when I move around a bit, it goes away.  I tried to plug in my computer last week and my belly got in the way (go figure) and I scraped my head on the bottom drawer, causing my head to bleed.  I’m not really realizing that I do look noticeable different to people and I can’t move around as easily.  I painted my nails on Thursday and thankfully I’m a bit flexible because I had to contort in such a way to go around my belly.  Still no stretch marks which I’m forever grateful for but they may come near the end or so I read.

Big news for me is that I found out my insurance will cover 85% of a breast pump for me with just a prescription from my doctor.  I need to make sure I can actually buy one and not have to rent one, but still glad I found out this piece of news.

Activity –
Monday – 42 min jog outside – morning run
Tuesday – Elliptical – 20 min, 15 min run – treadmill, swim – 15 min; weights – 10 min
Wednesday- 48 min – 5 miles.  Walked a little at the end due to those sharp pains.
Thursday – 30 min run on treadmill – 3 miles; weights – 10 min; Swim – 15 min
Friday –  45 min elliptical, pushups, lunges, squats, planks – 10 min
Saturday – 38 min run (4 miles?)
Sunday – 3 mile run – 28.35 – trail run

Weight gained: I have been tracking it to stay on my 4 pounds for the month, and on Friday morning (which is technically the beginning of my 27th week), I was 161.4 lbs after breakfast and my workout.

Maternity/Baby items bought: I found more cute tops at Goodwill but are Liz Lange from Target.  $4.99 for a maternity top, yes please!  If any of you want cheaper maternity clothes, I recommend a Goodwill for Target clothes with tags still on them.

**Just FYI, my weeks start over on Friday, so today, Sunday, I am in my 27th week.  I try to make it easier because we take my picture on the Sunday after the week is over.  May not make sense but it works for us.

Week 25

Week 25 – Dec 10th – 16th
Baby is the size of – A squash and weighs about 1 ½ pounds.  His fingers and toes are starting to form and he can grasp and wiggle them.

How I’m feeling  -    My belly is now getting in the way of everyday life.  Seriously.  I went to plug in my computer and said belly got in the way, so I scraped a huge chunk out of my head.  It was not pretty.  I’m swinging out of bed and find that I’m waddling to the bathroom in the middle of the night.  Leg cramps have sort of gone away.  I really only get them if I’m trying to stretch at night.  Running has felt better so that’s good and I’m still not pushing it but able to work out most days of the week.  I will say that he has gone crazy the last week or so.  It’s like every night around 9, there’s a party with many punches, kicks, movements.  Nathan is finally able to feel it and physically see my belly bounce and flutter.  He’s like, “How do you sleep?!”  It’s not hard falling asleep, just annoying at times.  I say that, but it’s awesome.  I just hope I don’t have too much of a squirmer.

I don’t feel him when I run, other than pressure like he’s pushing against all walls.  My guess and other moms have confirmed that he is probably sleeping then and likes the rocking motion.  What have I gotten Nathan and I into?  Many nights I’m sure of rocking or bouncing the little man.

Activity –
Monday – 35 min run
Tuesday – Elliptical – 30 min, Run 15 min, weights – 10 min
Wednesday-  42 min – 4.5 miles
Thursday – Treadmill run – 25 min, 2.25 miles; weights 10 min
Friday –  38 min run – 4 miles
Saturday –  Elliptical – 22 min; Run – 15 min; weights – 10 min; Swim – 10 laps – 20 min
Sunday –REST!

Weight gained: I fluctuated during the week, but Monday and Saturday I had the same weight so we’ll do with that: 161.8 pounds.  Total weight gain – approx 16 pounds

Maternity/Baby items bought: A construction vehicle LED nightlight!  It’s super cute from Target.  I’ve been very blessed to have friends who have loaned me or given me great stuff.  I got some more bottles, a diaper sling bag, bibs, and onesies from several friends this week.  I’m trying my best not to buy anything right now and save it for the showers.

**My goals for the coming month: 1)Pick out crib and dresser and buy!, 2) Get all my sub plans ready for March, 3) Get rid of the mattress in our spare room and clean out stuff and most importantly, 4)READ my pregnancy books!  I’m so overwhelmed by what I don’t know.  Thankfully again, I have many great friends that have given me opinions and help with my questions.  I should just expect to be overwhelmed at this point!

Merry Christmas!

Week 24

Week 24– Dec 3 – Dec 9
Baby is the size of –   He is a little over a pound and hair is starting to grow on his head.  He is 12 inches tall.  I definitely feel him, a lot!  He is bumping and pushing all the time.  It’s a very strange feeling but brings a huge smile to my face.

How I’m feeling – It is definitely getting harder to get out of a reclining position.  Nathan had to pull me up from the floor and couch this week.  It’s easier in bed because I can just swing my legs out.   Running is getting more difficult, which should be obvious, although it still bothers me.  My speed wouldn’t bother me, but my legs feel tight and burning.  I felt lightheaded the other day during my run, and I had to pee, so many walks breaks happened.  I’m also getting leg cramps at night, but they quickly go away.
I finally painted the nursery with the help of Caitlin and Allison.  It is a very pretty grey color with orange curtains.  I also registered which was a huge weight off my shoulders.  It didn’t take as long as for the wedding because how am I supposed to tell what someone else is going to like.  I know what I like but a baby is a different story!  I will post pictures of the progressing nursery soon.

Activity –
Monday – Rest
Tuesday – 35 min elliptical; 10 min weights
Wednesday- 45 min run; 5 miles
Thursday – 40 min elliptical; wts 10 min
Friday –  31 min run – roughly 3 miles
Saturday –  45 min run
Sunday –20 min elliptical; treadmill – 15 min; weights – 10 min

Weight gained: I weighed 161 pounds on Friday morning.  Trying to stay within that 4 pound gain for the month!  Still no stretch marks (other than the ones I had previously =)

Maternity/Baby items bought: I bought a cushion for my rocking chair and paint for the nursery!

Week 23

Week 23 – Nov 26 – Dec 2
Baby is the size of –An ear of corn.  He is hearing my voice and can feel me dance.  He is also starting to kick more.  Mom and I put a flashlight on my belly and he went crazy!  Nathan’s afraid we’re making him mad, but this boy was made to move.

How I’m feeling – My belly has popped and I no longer fit in my regular pants unless they are a size bigger than my normal size.  I have leg cramps, which feel like big charley horses, in the middle of the night sometimes, but they quickly go away.  My diet has not changed much.  My doctor informed me I gained 6lbs last month and was only supposed to gain 4lbs.  I panicked!  My eating has not changed and my activity level is pretty much the same as before.  He made me feel bad, but then said I’m in “storage mode” and it was probably just from Thanksgiving.  Whatever.  I was mad and he’s like 300lbs so not really up-ing his credibility in my eyes.  Next month, I’m supposed to shoot for 4 lbs.  Ya right, during Christmas season.  We’ll see.

Activity –
Monday – 40 min jog
Tuesday – 25 min swim, 25 min weights w/ cardio, 10 min eliptical
Wednesday- 38.25 min, 4 miles
Thursday – 5 mile run – 46 min
Friday –  35 min elliptical; weights 5-10 min
Saturday –  Gingerbread 5k Race – 27.14.  8th in my age group.
Sunday –Frostbite 10  mile run; 3rd in my age group!  1 hour 36 min.  9:38 pace.  Lots of hills and it was unseasonably warm so many walk breaks were needed.

Weight gained: My scale is different than the doctor’s.  On Thursday, it was 164 at the docs but 161 at home.  Friday it was 158.2 at home.

Maternity/Baby items bought: New dresses I got on sale and since none of my khakis fit, I had to order some.  I love how this baby is my excuse to get a new wardrobe.

I'm not proud of this outfit, but it was 7:45 pm and I had ran 10 miles that morning, so yeah....
